My practice is informed by daily walks in an urban neighborhood. Visual material abounds and beckons: concrete buildings, asphalt roads and curb side rubbish. I find archaeological treasures where others see garbage: discarded styrofoam, cartons, cardboard, bubble wrap, weathered furniture, broken toys, abandoned construction materials and outdated appliances. I love the marginality of these rejects, and I “adopt” them -- converting these abandoned items into paintings, drawings and sculptures.  I use Styrofoam, cardboard, paint, charcoal, pencil, cosmetics, shoe polish, ink, textiles and clay to incorporate nonconventional found materials into final works.
